Jezerca Summit Climb
Overview
Climb the Highest Peak in the Accursed Mountains — Jezerca
Our guided Jezerca peak climb takes you to the highest summit in the Accursed Mountains. It’s the 6th highest peak in the Balkans. The route moves through the most iconic terrain of the range, above 2,600 meters. We set camp at high elevation for a true feel of the wild.
The trails offer dramatic views, quiet sunsets, and sunrises worth waking up for. Each day brings rugged climbing and real reward. First, remote wild camps. Then, big skies and full immersion in the Albanian Alps.
This Jezerca peak climb suits hikers with prior multi-day trekking experience. You should feel comfortable with long hours on steep terrain and high-altitude camping.
Weather shapes the mountains here, so we plan accordingly. If conditions demand it, we can shift the itinerary to a comparable, reachable peak in the range. This way, your safety and experience both come first.
We set camp on the shoulder of the mountain. From there, you’ll see sweeping views over the surrounding valleys and peaks — a true sense of immersion in the Albanian Alps. Overall, this is the definitive Albanian Alps climbing experience, and one of the most rewarding routes we guide in Tropojë.
Good to Know
This tour requires a minimum of 2 people to run. For 2027, we’ve planned three spring dates for the Jezerca peak climb.
Note: we recommend planning your trip 2 days longer than the itinerary above. This gives us flexibility for weather conditions.

Tour Plan
- Meeting Point: in Valbona valley. You will meet the local guide and the team, who start our adventure trip
- This trip is rated "vigorous" (5 out of 5) and is recommended for fit travelers with mountaineering experience. Participants will need to carry their own backpacks weighing between 13–16 kg over a distance of up to 20 km in a day, with significant elevation gains and losses of up to 1500 meters.
Arrival in Valbona Valley
Your adventure begins in the Valbona Valley, one of the most striking corners of the Albanian Alps. After checking in to your guesthouse or hotel, you'll meet your guide for a welcome briefing , an introduction to the days ahead, the route, and what to expect from the terrain.
Using maps, your guide will walk you through the itinerary in detail: the trail for the following day's climb, estimated hiking times, terrain conditions, difficulty level, and the location of the campsite. This is the time to ask questions, sort out final preparations, and settle in before heading into the mountains.
If you're renting equipment with us, this is also when you'll collect it , checked and fitted before departure, so there's nothing left to sort out on the trail.
The rest of the day is yours to relax, enjoy the valley, and get a first look at the peaks you'll be walking into tomorrow.
Climb to Jezerca Camp 2,400m
Today's route climbs from the valley floor to our camp spot at 2,400 meters above sea level , a gain of roughly 1,200 meters over 9 kilometers of trail. Expect at least 6-7 hours of hiking, one way.
We start early, giving ourselves the full day to reach the shoulder of Jezerca, where camp will be set for the night. The trail is demanding steady uphill through changing terrain but the reward is one of the best views in the range: the Accursed Mountains spread out around you, ridgelines and valleys in every direction, peaks catching the last light as we settle in.
Once we arrive, your guide will choose the exact camp spot and get everything set up for the night. Dinner is high-energy adventure food, built to refuel you after a long day on the trail.
Jezerca Summit 2,694m
We wake up, have breakfast, and leave camp with just what we need for the summit push, keeping the rest of the camp set up as it is. From camp, the top of Jezerca is around 1 hour away, and the final stretch delivers exactly what you came for: a true summit view over the Albanian Alps.
After taking it in, we head back down to camp, pack everything up, and begin the descent to the car , a downhill stretch of 5 to 6 hours. From there, you'll be transferred to your accommodation, bringing the trek to a close.
